Mary Kay was a brand i had never even considered slightly, it was one of those thoughts of “oh another brand that i dont really know” but i have to say i was completely wrong about my thoughts as i was actually surprised at the quality of this concealer from Mary Kay which has become one of holy grail products for covering up blemishes to brightening under eyes and even using Ivory 2 as a Kim Kardashian-esque highlight.
Colour and Pigmentation
Something i didnt expect from this Mary Kay was the extensive colour range as a 3 different colours in each range i.e. Ivory 1,2 and 3 then Biege 1,2 and 3 etc. Another surprising thing is a selection of both warm and cool tones something you dont usually see in more affordable makeup. Pigmentation wise these blew me away, they are really pigmented but in a really natural way they doesn’t look cakey. Everyone i know who has used these concealers have all commented on how soft and smooth and how they blend like a dream you can apply under your eyes without fear of it creasing.
I wondered how well this concealer would hold up during the day and it didn’t disappoint you will find this is quite a long wearing concealer, i found it lasted for around 6-7 hours as its said by Mary Kay that this concealer is waterproof which is amazing although i find using a primer underneath helps to give you that longwearing application. I used the Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Foundation Primer from Smashbox and on top i used the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder under the eyes and the Daniel Sandler Invisible Veil Powder as a general setting powder on the other areas of my face.
Packaging wise its nothing that crazy or different its really simple really chic it doesn’t look “cheap” it actually looks like something i saw from either Dior or YSL im sure. In terms of containing the products its great the lid screws on well so you won’t find this going everywhere in your bag which is always a plus haha.
