Save or Splurge – Foreo Espada vs Neutrogena Acne Light Therapy

Save or Splurge - Foreo Espada vs Neutrogena Light Therapy

Hey Beauties!

I have been meaning to do this post for a while now but since the Neutrogena Light Therapy launched i thought i would just combine the posts into a Save or Splurge post.
We have 2 acne treatments here that both use light to kill the acne causing bacteria that can be sometimes present. The Foreo Espada is the more expensive treatment and the Neutrogena Light Therapy is the more affordable option,

The Foreo Espada uses the dual power of laser-focused blue LED light and T-Sonic™ pulsations which help to clear up acne/spots over time. Espada targets pimples, clogged pores and blackheads.
I really like the use of these treatment lights as ive felt quite a difference in how my skin reacts when i get a flare up/breakout. The whole idea behind the Espada is the blue light  works by firing LED light energy into pores to attack acne-causing bacteria “known as P. acnes” where it lives. Espadas T-Sonic pulsations propel blue light wavelengths deeper, for an amplified effect. This noninvasive acne treatment is FDA-approved, pain-free and mess-free.

I had found online that Espada works at 415 nm which is enough to target the surface of the skin but its powerful enough to penetrate the skin and treat the deeper layers, Espada would have to be at least 465 nm for this.

The Espada is really easy to use you press the button and press it to your skin it will start to vibrate for 30 seconds then switch off (The treatment wont switch on unless there is contact with the skin)

The Espada is £129 and comes in 3 colours (Also waterproof and rechargeable 1 charge lasts 50 uses)

The Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Spot Treatment works on the same principle as the Espada but this includes the use of red light as well as blue light.
Even though this is cheaper i find the combination of red and blue really interesting as you not only get the benefits of the bacteria killing blue light you also get the healing powers of the red light as well. As well as known for its healing properties red light can help to increase microcirculation and formation of new capillaries.

The Neutrogena Light Therapy doesn’t vibrate like the Espada but i feel like because it has the added red light it makes up for that plus this is much more convenient to be carrying around with you as the Espada is more of a stay at home type of thing.

Neutrogena Light Therapy is really easy to use again all you do is hold in the button it will turn on and this treatment lasts for 2 minutes and will turn off after its done,

Neutrogena Light Therapy is £29.99, that’s around a £100 different between the two treatments.

It really does depend on what you can afford and what you are willing to spend on something like this, both have fantastic qualities but im really keen to see how well the Neutrogena Light Therapy works over time as it has the added benefit of the red light

You can find the Espada online at and the Neutrogena Light Therapy online and instore at

Have you tried light therapy before?
