Top 5 Favourite Drugstore Products

I wanted to welcome everyone to the first post of my new rebranded blog! I really love doing these top 5 posts simply because they seem to help a lot of people. If you are on a budget or if you just like these brands you will love this post!

First we have the Sleek Makeup Face Contour Kit (£6.49)*. I love this palette because if you're a beauty lover you will know how hard it is to find a good contour in a drug store often they are either shimmery or too orange but with this palette you have a great block brown colour which chisels out the cheeks, nose, chin perfectly and to top it all off it contains the matching highlighter which is one of my favourite highlighters. Coming in 3 different shades there really is a shade for everyone.

Next we have the Maybelline EyeStudio Color Tattoo in Timeless Black (£4.99) which is a matte black base which i often use when doing a smokey eye, its has to be one of my favourite bases simply because its matte and its pigmented and it works really well and i think it outperforms some higher end products because it sets down and its hard to get off so its perfect for those of you with oily lids! you can apply this to the lid then blend it out and let it set then apply a colour over the top such as a lighter colour to make it brighter and more intense.

I love Scandaleyes Waterproof Eyeliner in Black (£3.99) from Maybelline as if you dont want to shell out for the Urban Decay 24-7 liners then this is a great dupe in the drugstore i find these are a little bit harder than the Urban Decay but there is similarities as they are both quite creamy. This black is a very black colour as i know quite a few liners i have tried from the drugstore haven't been true black but for £3.99 this is great eyeliner and to mention its waterproof so its perfect for those oily lidded people or those who find eyeliner doesn't last on the waterline.

This mascara, Does It All from Collection Cosmetic (£4.99) is such a great dupe for the Benefit They're Real as they both have the plastic head. I find this mascara is really a deep black so its great if you want your mascara to last I find that it gets to the stage of being hard to get off but it thats what you want then this is the mascara for you. Does it all is great at giving you lenght and a bit of thickening of the lashes it basically does the same as They're Real but i find it dries out quite quickly but at £4.99 that isnt much of a loss as you are supposed to throw out your mascaras regularly

Last but not latest we have the Crown Brush C417 Chubby Shadow Brush (£5.39)* which obviously isnt makeup or available in drugstores but its still in that bracket as i find Crown Brush to be very affordable. The C417 Chubby Shadow brush is a goat hair brush sh its best for powders as creams will tend to clog up this brush, its best for blending out makeup in my opinion but it can also be used for laying down colour on the lids. The C417 Chubby Shadow Brush is quite like the MAC 227 Brush.

Sleek MakeUP Californ.I.A Blush by 3 Review

Sleek MakeUP has to be my favourite drugstore brand simply because its affordable yet they provide a really high quality of product.

Colour and Pigmentation

The Sleek MakeUP Californ.I.A Blush by 3* contains 3 different types of cream blushes rather than the usual 3 powders. I love this palette as it has 3 different shades of peachy/coral blush which i think look really flattering on the cheeks since its coming up to summer. In this palette you have Newport Peach which is a coral pink which has a really dewy finish then we have The Surf which is a pinky peach which to me is more of a highlighter shade or even a light peach blush on really pale skin then the last colour in this palette is called OC is a really pigmented orangey peach with a semi matte finish which would look amazing on deeper skin tones this colour is probably my favourite out of this palette.

Left to Right- Newport Peach, The Surf, OC

Wear Time

While wearing this i find it lasts longer than a lot of the blushes i have used before when using it on others i find it lasts around 6 hours which is normally a full day of work or going about whatever you do. I find it does last longer than the time above but it wears off and loses is dewyness.

Packaging

The packaging for the Sleek Blush by 3 Palette is nothing new or groundbreaking it has a quite a large mirror in the palette which can be good for applying. What i love most about this is the fact they are all creams because when you have creams and powders in the same palette you run the risk of getting powder in the cream and ruining it. As the name suggests its really sleek with matte black packaging and is easy to open but wont open in your bag

Price and Where to Buy

The Sleek MakeUP Californ.I.A Blush by 3 palette can be purchased from Superdrug and Boots or online at www.sleekmakeup.com for £9.99.

Smashbox Full Exposure Palette Review

The Smashbox Full Exposure Palette* launched earlier this year and i thought it was a great palette but wasn't expecting much as there were a lot of new neutral palette releases and i didn't think this would be any different but i was wrong!

Colour and Pigmentation

This palette really surprised me in terms of pigmentation and colour i thought it would be just another palette but i was pleasantly surprised. The Full Exposure palette contains 14 different neutral colours, the top row being eyeshadows that are shimmery and have a slightly glitter to them and the bottom row containing velvet matte shades. In my opinion this palette is far better than the Naked Palette series as they only contains 1 or 2 matte shades but this palette contains both shimmer and matte in a range of shades and undertones not to mention they are all reasonably pigmented with no fall down when applying

Wear Time

Another thing that really impressed me was the wear time of these shadows i found the matte shades to very long lasting considering the formula and the shimmery shades look great over the matte shades so they last well in that respect too, applying a primer before hand will make some of this shadows brighter and also make them last longer as well which would be great for those of you who find your eyeshadows start to crease.

Packaging

I love the packaging of this because its a really secure box it closes based on magnets although the box is cardboard it doesn't look cheap and certainly doesn't feel cheap either. it has a rubberised outer finish.
I like that it has quite a large mirror inside and comes with this great brush that works really well with the shadows as one side is a flat brush for applying and the other is a blending brush quite similar to a blend of the MAC 217 and the 224. It also comes with a mini of the Full Exposure Mascara which works pretty well and doesn't flake which is always good and this great little chart that tells you what eyeshadow you should do with your eye shape

Price and Where to Buy

You can buy the Smashbox Full Exposure Palette from any Smashbox counter or online at smashbox.co.uk for £36 which is the same price as the Urban Decay Naked Palete 1-3

COMING SOON: Illamasqua Matte Veil

Illamasqua is set to launch a new product one i am everyone will love following the success of  Hydra Veil, Illamasqua announces the launch of Matte Veil. Matte Veil an intensely mattifying gel to give your skin a matte finish.
Butyelene Glycol dissolves the skin's overactive oil levels while drawing and retaining moisture, and Sodium Hyaluronate further keeps the skin feeling healthy and balanced. Matte Veil controls shine throughout the day into the evening, providing the optimal shine-free base ready for your makeup creation.

I absolutely love this product because it is great for those of you who want a matte finish to your foundation or base, I usually apply this after i moisturise the skin its great to use on men who don't like a glow. I used this when i did Julian Kynaston's makeup last week and it looks beautiful on the skin as it doesn't dull the skin down like a lot of mattifying primers do it just makes the skin look naturally matte.

As you can see Matte Veil is different from Hydra Veil, it has a more creamy feel than the gel finish of Hydra Veil
The smell is really different as well if im honest it smells like strawberry yogurt and its not a bad scent i love it but maybe some people might not be as keen on it as i am.

I think this is another great product from Illamasqua a real game changer i can see this just being as popular as Hydra Veil.
Matte Veil is set to launch spring this year i don't have a specific date but i will update everyone when i can it will cost around the same as Hydra veil at £30

What do you think of Matte Veil
Will you be trying it?

NYX Milk Jumbo Eye Pencil Review

When i heard that NYX was coming to the UK i was nothing short of very excited although it took me a while to get some things from NYX as i got this from Braehead Next in Glasgow which is really hard to get to if you don't have a car.

Colour and Pigmentation

I think everyone ive spoke to knows about NYX in some way and the jumbo pencils are one of those things that everyone loves and knows about, Milk is a matte white cream based product that is really pigmented for the price
I find that you need to set this product or it will crease, i like to either apply this then powder it with a loose powder or i will use an eyeshadow because it makes a great primer as it will intensify eyeshadows and extend the wear of them. You can also use this a white eyeliner i have used it as such and although it isn't meant for that but it does work well.

Wear Time

Although this is a cream product it doesn't set down but it is really thick so it won't wear off but will crease. I find that this does last quite a while when you set it with a powder. This product for me is something i will use as a base rather than an actual coloured product because it makes everything far more vibrant and long lasting

Packaging

I really like the packaging of the NYX Milk Jumbo Eye Pencils because its like a big pencil rather than something that comes in a tub and you have to use brushes and run the risk of it drying out where as this is a pencil and can be used as such. There is nothing amazing about it packing wise it just works well.

Price and Where to Buy

You can purchase the NYX Milk Jumbo Eye Pencil (£5) from selected Next stores or online from Love Makeup in the UK and from CVS and Target.

What is your favourite Jumbo Pencil?

MAC Maleficent Collection: First Look

As you know the Maleficent film is launching this summer and i for one cannot wait to see it! I only just saw the images for this collection yesterday and to be quite honest im a little excited because it just brings me back to the "Venomous Villains" collection MAC did years ago.
Although i am a little disappointed with the Quad as it contains all permanent shades rather than limited edition shades for the collection im quite happy with the rest of the collection

To get a feel for the collection check out the trailer for what looks to be a great film

This collection contains a few awesome looking products such as the sculpting cream, the lipstick and lip glass which i really want to try, i do like the Quad although as i said its not limited edition but it is a good colour selection.

Eye Palette (Including Ground Brown, Concrete, Carbon and Goldmine), Pro-longwear Lipglass "Anthurium", Lipstick "True Love's Kiss" and Pro Longwear Lip Pencil "Kiss me quick".

Beauty Powder "Natural" and Sculpting Powder "Sculpt"

Nail Lacquer "Nocturnelle", "Flaming Rose" and "Uninvited". Prep + Prime Highlighter "Bright Forecast", Eyebrow Pencil "Fling" and Penultimate eyeliner "Rapidblack".

Lashes 36 & 30

This is quite a big collection but personally i think the colours could have been better i would love to see more limited edition shades things you can't get after the collection is gone but its not all bad i am actually quite excited for this!

Whats your favourite product?

Will you be seeing Maleficent?

Nanshy Stand Up Brush Holder Review

I have always been a brush belt person, ive always carried my brushes around in the belt because i always thought that was the best way to carry them about but about a year ago i really wanted to change from a brush belt to a brush holder. I had seen quite a lot of them on Guru Makeup Emporium but i never got around to it.
I think brush holders are much better because you have 2 little cups which are pretty awesome because they dont get you dirty like a brush belt would as the brushes could end up rubbing on your clothes

As you can see above the Nanshy Stand Up Brush Holder is pretty awesome it basically comes as 1 case with is expandable so you dont even need to use it just for brushes you could use it for anything that would fit in it be it sponges....lipglosses? etc
I just seperate my face brushes and my eye brushes in the 2 different cups so i can see where everything is

You can purchase the Nanshy Stand Up Brush Holder from Amazon.co.uk or from nanshy.com. It retails £14.95

What do you think of these holders?

Have you used Nanshy before

Upcoming Product Launches In The World of Beauty

I thought that i might combine by "Upcoming Posts" into 1 post so you have a better idea of what's coming up in the new few months in "the world of beauty"
So far this year i have been really underwhelmed with a lot of the product releases but right now im actually really looking forward to these releases.

First we have the Barry M Gelly-Hi-Shine Lips (£4.99) which are supposed to be like the Gelly Nails they did a while back but for the Lips i saw Jaynes Kitschen using them on Instagram and they looked pretty awesome, they are really vibrant and gorgeous. Set for launch on the 19th March and will be available in boots nationwide.

Bobbi Brown are launching their first ever retractable eyeliner called Perfectly Defined Gel Eyeliner (£18) These new eyeliners look really promising as they are long wear and have a pointed tip for precision so you can get that really smooth defined line, they are also water resistant which i think is really important for those of us with oily lids. The Perfectly Defined Gel Eyeliner is set for launch in April

The Bourjois Volume 1 seconde mascara (£8.99) This reminds me so much of the Benefit Theyre Real Mascara but of course more affordable  i like the fact it has the little plastic short bristles. I really like this because it carnauba and beeswax, as well as jojoba you can get it in Waterproof or normal formula.  Really Ree did a post on this and it really makes your lashes big and separated which is great of a mascara. Bourjois Volume 1 seconde mascara is set for launch in Mid-May of this year

label.m Titanium Pro-50 Styling Iron Black

If you are a regular reader to my blog you will know how obsessed i am with Label.M they have to be one of my favourite brands for hair. I dont have long hair anymore so i dont have much use for pair of straighteners but i would be tempted if i did again because these seem really awesome!
The new Label M Titanium Pro 50 (£69.99) has floating titanium plates, variable temperature control ranging from 120C to 235C and they work on all hair types to create gorgeous from straightened hair, curls, waves and flicks.
The Label M Titanium Pro-50 are set for launch in Late March so you don't have long to wait!

The best news is saved for last,i know a lot of people have been waiting for Tarte to come to the UK and the time has finally come!! Tarte will be sold exclusively on QVC in the UK although its not a counter or a shop its a start. The thing i want to try most of all is the Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush I have read so much about them so i need to try get my hands on them.
Tarte will be launching on QVC on the 28th of March with prices ranging from £16.20-£29.50

What do you think of these launches?
Are you looking forward to anything?

5 of the Best Face Primers

In my opinion Primers have to be the most important part of makeup be it for controlling oily skin, creating a smooth face to apply your base on or to shrink pores and fine lines.
Today i wanted to share with you 5 of the best primers that i have used. Of course there are others out there that may be better but these are the ones ive used and loved, when i say i have tried a lot of primers i mean a lot so this is the best of say 30 primers

In the selection above you have the New CID Cosmetics i-prime, Daniel Sandler Retexturizing Primer, The Body Shop Matte It Primer, Illamasqua Satin Primer and the Benefit Cosmetics Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer
New CID Cosmetics - 30ml (£28)

First we have the New CID Cosmetics i-prime is as soft as silk this is mainly because it is a silicone based primer. The i-prime dulls down your imperfections, fine lines and make your skin feel smoother, when applying it i like to apply to parts of the face that need it wait for a while for it to be absorbed then apply foundation, you can tell straight away that the skin is smoother and the foundation just glides on, as for wear time i would say that it does extend the wear of foundation but not by much more than usual this primer is more a correcting primer than extending wear.

Daniel Sandler Retexturizing Primer 28g- (£20.50)

The Daniel Sandler Retexturizing Primer is again a silicone based primer which extends the wear of foundation as well as reducing the size of pores and fine lines. It also contains an SPF of 20 which is important. I think this primer has to be my favourite simply because this is the one i get the best results with i can actually see a difference in how my skin looks and how long foundation/concealers lasts.

The Body Shop Matte It Primer- 25ml (£12)

The Body Shop Matte It Primer was quite a surprise for me simply because i never expected to have this work as well as it does, it is a great dupe for the MAC Matte Primer. This primer works best at creating a smooth surface when applying your base i would say this primer is for those of you who just want something to mattify your skin if you don't want a satin glowy finish. I wouldn't say this extends the wear of your base by much but i doubt its supposed to as its a mattifier.

Illamasqua Satin Primer- 30ml (£22.50)

Illamasqua Satin Primer was actually one of the first primers that i had ever used when i had first gotten into the whole beauty scene. This primer mainly focuses on a satin finish when applied it gives the skin this gorgeous satin sheen so when you apply your foundation you literally look like you're glowing. I would suggest this for anyone with normal/combo or dry skin because it doesnt accentuate dry patches i wouldnt recommend it for oily as it gives a really dewy/shiney finish so it might make you look a little oil slicked

Benefit Cosmetics Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer- 15g (£24.50)

The Benefit Cosmetics Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer is great for those of you who may be oily or those of you who want your foundation to last much longer than it normally would.
You will find this primer isnt like a lot of others because its in a stick form but it works just as well all you need to do is apply it in circles around the face then apply your base on top without blending the primer into the skin. I know it says 15 hours but you will honestly find your foundation lasting well into 9+ hours i havent tried it for the full 15 hours but ive heard it has lasted that long

What is your favourite primer?
What do you look for in primers?
